Louder Detonations Due On Aberdeen Proving Ground In March

Noisier-than-usual booms are to be expected on post, officials said Monday.

Aberdeen residents and those living in surrounding communities may hear louder booms than usual in March, courtesy of Aberdeen Proving Ground.

Post officials on Monday announced that testing to be conducted from March 11 to March 22 on Aberdeen Proving Ground may sound louder than normal.

According to a news release from APG, "If weather conditions are not favorable in minimizing noise off the installation, firing will be rescheduled."

In recent tests, residents from as far west as Perry Hall have reported hearing the loud booms. Testing is often hear across the Chesapeake Bay, as well.

The tests will be conducted at the U.S. Army Aberdeen Test Center—which serves the Department of Defense and contractors.
