Maryland Agriculture Secretary Visiting Aberdeen for Dessert

Keyes Creamery is one of eight dairy farms on 'Maryland's Best Ice Cream Trail.'

Keyes Creamery will have a special guest over for ice cream on Saturday.

Maryland Agriculture Secretary Buddy Hance is stopping by the farm on the 3700 block of Aldino Road around lunchtime to celebrate dairies that make ice cream and sell it directly to consumers.

There are 496 dairy farms statewide that brought in about $188 million in sales last year, according to a press release from Maryland's Department of Agriculture.

Of those, Hance is visiting the state's eight dairy farms that produce ice cream and sell it directly to consumers. The Department of Agriculture has launched a campaign identifying these sites as "Maryland's Best Ice Cream Trail" to encourage people to check out their local dairies.

Saturday marks the final two stops on Hance's 290-mile tour of the ice cream trail, including an appearance at Keyes Creamery in Harford County from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
