Col. Gregory R. McClinton assumed the command of Wednesday during a ceremony at the APG post theater.
Leadership of the garrison was transferred to McClinton from Col. Orlando W. Ortiz.
“He will bring new energy and excellence to APG,” U.S. Army Installation Management Commandion region director Davis D. Tindoll said, according to a statement.
APG consists of 1,200 soldiers and contractors working to support 90 organization missions.
Ortiz was credited with overseeing the base realignment and closure (BRAC) transition. That transition included more than $1 billion in infrastructure upgrades and the construction of 18 new buildings.
McClinton comes to APG from Norfolk, VA, where he was the chief of staff for teh Joint Staff Deputy Directorate for Joint Force Coordination.
