BASEBALL: Eagles Top Joppatowne

Aberdeen picked up a win against the Mariners Friday.

The baseball team used 13 hits, including a pair of doubles from Trae Fenner, to defeat Joppatowne, 16-11, in a road game Friday afternoon.

Aberdeen had 11 runs on the board through three innings before Joppatowne put up four in both the fourth and fifth. The Eagles put up four runs in the sixth to put the game out of reach before Joppatowne rallied for two in its final inning.

The Eagles improved to 3-8 overall.

Hunter Bachman struck out four in 3.1 innings before Andrew Johnson tossed 3.2 innings of relief, striking out six.

Aside from Fenner, the Eagles had multi-hit games from Zach Litsch (2-for-5, four runs, RBI), Travis Hubler (2-for-3, triple, 2 runs, RBI), Dan Fama (2-for-5, three RBIs, two runs) and Bachman (2-for-4, double, walk, run, RBI).

Austin Smith (RBI, run), Josh Brien (1-for-3, RBI) and Johnson (double, run) had hits for Aberdeen.

Tyler Maughan and Nicholas Wynn each had a sac fly and an RBI.

Tyler McIntosh and Tyler Whitney each walked and scored.
