Harford County Public Schools Makes Call About Snow

The school system revealed plans for Jan. 3 on Friday morning.

Classes were canceled at Harford County Public Schools, the school system announced Friday morning.

The school system was operating on Code Green on Friday, meaning essential employees were required to report for work; second-shift custodian duty was canceled; and there would be neither evening activities nor day care.

Harford County government offices were closed.

Aberdeen Proving Ground was operating on a four-hour delay on Friday.

Federal government workers were granted unscheduled leave or telework, according to the Office of Personnel Management website.

As Harford County declared a snow emergency and flakes continued to fall Thursday night, the school system made tentative plans for Friday.

Harford County Public Schools will open two hours later than usual on Friday, Jan. 3, according to a statement the school system issued Thursday night.

Friday's prekindergarten and preschool activities were canceled.

"We will continue to monitor the storm and re-evaluate in the early morning," according to the statement. "Should the schedule change, you will be notified immediately."

Thursday's after-school activities were canceled due to the weather.
