Is Out-Of-State Tuition Worth The Price?

One Harford County resident took out more than $100,000 in private loans to pay for an out-of-state education.

Harford County resident Megan Connors said she learned a cruel lesson about paying back college tuition after completing her degree at Auburn University, according to a College Loans Easy article.

Connors, who majored in criminology, took out more than $100,000 in private loans to cover expenses beyond federal aid. She now works as a prekindergarten teacher and slowly makes payment on her debt.

She continues to look for work with the federal government, but she said her debt has affected her chances of actually landing a job because the government checks credit reports for security positions.

“When they find out about your student loan debt and how much you owe, they don’t want to take a chance on you,” said Connors.
