Cal Ripken World Series Returns to Aberdeen

National and international teams will face off at Ripken Stadium from August 12-21.

Sixteen teams of 11- to 12-year-old baseball players plan to compete at Ripken Academy in Aberdeen Aug. 12-21, according to a series press release.

The tournament, Babe Ruth League’s 2011 Cal Ripken World Series, is expected to feature 10 national and six international teams.

Young athletes from Canada, Dominican Republic, Korea, Australia, Mexico and Japan will join players from Hawaii and Kentucky to Texas and Bel Air, this year's Harford County champions, the release stated.

The series will kick off Friday with a parade from Cal Sr.'s Yard to Ripken Stadium, in addition to the opening ceremonies, a skills competition and home run derby. 

The MLB Network is expected to televise the championship games on Aug. 20 and 21 live with commentary from Cal and Bill Ripken.

All events are free and open to the public. 

Below is the anticipated schedule for the 2011 Cal Ripken World Series, according to the release:
