Aberdeen is throwing a going-away party Tuesday night.

The guests of honor: drugs and crime.

Aberdeen residents are invited to join the Aberdeen Police Department, Aberdeen Target store and local emergency service organizations from 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday to celebration National Night Out.

According to a message sent from the City of Aberdeen on Monday night: "This event is to heighten crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support and participation in anticrime efforts, strengthen neighborhood spirit and police-community partnerships. There will be food and various activities during the event including a 'Prescription Take Back' station to dispose of prescription drugs. Come out and enjoy the evening and join us in giving crime and drugs a going away party."

Aberdeen isn't alone in hosting this event. Havre de Grace and Bel Air will host similar events on Tuesday.
