A PLACE TO WORSHIP: Breath of God Christian Fellowship

Apostle Dianne Welsh encourages the masses to hear God's call for people to pray.

Apostle Dianne Welsh and her husband, minister Joe Welsh, are co-laborers together at Breath of God Christian Fellowship.

The church is located at 105 W. Bel Air Ave. in Aberdeen. Dove Christian Fellowship International, of Lititz, PA, governs the congregation.

Welsh, originally from South Carolina, recently shared her church history with Patch.

The ministry grew from small beginnings in her house in Edgewood, back in 1990, Welsh said. The Fellowship later moved to its current location, formerly the Rowe building, where the church began with three small rooms. Then the church moved to 17 N. Philadelphia Ave.

"Five years ago, they went back to what was the old Rowe building and re-furbished it into an attractive church," said Welsh.

The church has a sanctuary, pastor's study, a community outreach office known as Rucha’ Inc. and much more.

Deacon Rebecca Terrell is the Rucha' director. This outreach ministry provides assistance for people who are searching for jobs and provides information and referrals to people who need counseling and help with homelessness. Women who are pregnant or have parenting issues and other household needs can also receive services from the church.

Breath of God Christian Fellowship is a non-denominational church with approximately 60 members.

According to the church’s staff, the congregation’s mission is to develop "fishers of men who are committed to the kingdom of God and knitted together through dynamic prayer and praise."

"We are not here to entertain, but to equip," Welsh said. " Our main focus is to equip people to go out and train people as it relates to discipleship. Even the children can go out and equip somebody else."

Breath of God Christian Fellowship has a staff of ordained elders, deacons and ministers. Elder James Zachary is the overseer of the Fire Starter Evangelism ministry, Welsh said.

This ministry includes a published newsletter known as "The Net." Activities posted include youth mentorship in the community and a prayer conference call held every Friday (except the second Friday of the month) at 9 p.m.

Sunday School services are held at 10 a.m. Intercessory prayer is held at 11 a.m. Worship service starts at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday night bible study is held at 7 p.m. There is also an intercessory prayer service held on Saturday at 11:30 a.m.
