Golf Outing Raises $12K For ALS Research

Nearly 100 golfers participated Saturday at Wetlands Golf Course in Aberdeen.

Nearly 100 golfers participated in a charity outing Saturday at that raised $12,000 for ALS research.

The outing was held in memory of Dave Simmons, who died in October 2011 after a 10-month battle with ALS—also known as Lou Gehrig's Disease. It benefitted the DC/Maryland/Virginia chapter of the ALS Association.

Ninety-six golfers participated. There were 30 door prizes and six silent auction items, as well as 30 raffle prizes.

The event featured a "Legacy Table" to honor those who have lost their fight with ALS.
