An official Junior Ravens Nest is also in the works, according to Kelly Dietz, chairman of the board for Ravens Nest #26.

Aside from being passionate about football, the Nest also supports the community.

The Nest is seeking donations for the flood victims of Port Deposit. “We accept any food, clothing or household items that will assist as our neighbors rebuild,” said Nest Treasurer Mary Ann Connell.

The collected items are scheduled to be dropped off September 19.

Once that drive is over, another will begin on September 19 to benefit the Humane Society of Harford County, one of the several charities the Nest supports. Donations of towels, pet supplies, food and similar items are being accepted in lieu of monetary gifts.

The Boys and Girls Club of Harford County is another organization that has received support from the Ravens Nest #26 in its first year of existence, as well as from The Towne Pub & Restaurant for the past eight years, noted Dietz, who owns the establishment.

Past events have included a . Admission to the spectacle was two boxes or cans of food, which was donated to a local family in need to make sure they had an Easter dinner.

Another event in which members of the Nest participated was the Polar Bear Plunge at Sandy Point State Park, to help raise money for the Special Olympics Maryland.

Meetings of Ravens Nest #26 are held at 7 p.m. on the third Thursday of the month. The public is invited and welcomed.

“Everyone enjoys rooting for our team and heckling the opponent,” Connell said.

Join the festivities at 1 p.m. on Sunday as the Ravens play their first away game of the season against the Tennessee Titans.
