Harford Fallen Officers Ride, APG Support Our Heroes Gala, Fall Prevention

The week ahead in Aberdeen includes remembrances and celebrations.

OK, so the first day of fall was Sunday, but that doesn't mean we have to fall, like the verb. To help older adults stay on their feet, physical therapists from Upper Chesapeake are visiting the Aberdeen Senior Activity Center (7 Franklin St.) for a fall prevention workshop from 10:30 a.m. to noon on Thursday, Sept. 26. Director of the Upper Chesapeake Outpatient Rehab Center Christina Pedini will speak, and there will be screenings.

Here's what else is happening in Aberdeen this week:

Join the Aberdeen Lions Club for dinner at the Wetland Golf Club House at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 24. Dinner is $16.

Get fired up about saving the planet Wednesday, when A Fierce Green Fire will be shown from 7:30 to 10 p.m. on Sept. 25 at the Chesapeake Theater at Harford Community College (401 Thomas Run Rd.) in Bel Air. The limited release film is shown through the Havre de Grace Green Team and Harford Community College.

The Fallen Officers Ride will take place Saturday, with "kickstands up" at 10:30 a.m. The second annual event to remember law enforcement who were lost in Harford County starts at Ripken Stadium (at 873 Long Dr.) and ends at the Harley Davidson (4600 Thunder Ct.) in Darlington.

Healthy Harford Day 2013 is also on Saturday, Sept. 28.

Finally, Aberdeen Proving Ground hosts its annual Support Our Heroes Gala on Saturday, Sept. 28. The event will be held at the new Water's Edge Event Center (4685 Millenium Dr.) in Belcamp. It runs from 6 to 10 p.m. and tickets are $125.
