Oh my goodness! Those are my girls up there Emily & Sara and our little buddy Aidan !! We are onRead More our 4th year celebrating my survival and giving back to American Cancer society to find a cure. It's a lot of fun. We laugh and walk and eat and cry. Come out and help a great cause. Jim, I am so excited to hear you are coming back to HDG HS. We have a great man to lead the high school to its glory. Congratulations! We'll be there next year!!

I recently just moved back to the area after losing my husband, Mike Johnson (HdG High graduate c/oRead More 1997) to cancer. I would love to support or participate in this event. Does anyone know how I can obtain more information?

If Catonsville Rails To Trails couln't win, then the next best project is Patapsco HeritageRead More Greenway. Congratulations to PHG! Thanks to Patch for running such a great "green" contest. It was fun.

Thanks so much to all of our friends who have supported the Patapsco Heritage Greenway! I recognizeRead More many of these names as our dedicated volunteers who are helping us make a difference in the Patapsco River watershed! Kudos to all those other environmental groups making a difference too - we are all in this together. Betsy McMillion, Executive Director P.H.G.

The Kentlands Community Foundation supports and encourages volunteerism in many programs includingRead More the Go Green Group. The Go Green group educates and advocates for green practices in our small community in a BIG way. Our community leaders and volunteers make Green fashionable.

It seems unlikely that "one comment" will net $500. As Patch explains, "we'll pick aRead More comment at random and the organization gets a check. There is one shot per commenter but other commenters who support the group are welcome — so the more comments an organization receives, the better chance it has at winning. If you know of a worthy nonprofit, have it mobilize its supporters to leave comments." It actually sounds to me more like a way for Patch to boost traffic on its site so AOL can go to advertisers and Wall Street investors and say, see--it's working! To those offended by my cynicism, sorry, but when the pool of comments includes people who have commented twice, and people with unrecognizable names, the word "randomness" loses its meaning.

Wow - what a great opportunity to help the community and make new lifelong friends! I've beenRead More hosting Team Mexico for the last 5 years - along with several other Magnificent HdG families. Each and every family had a wonderful experience. In 2010 Team Mexico received the City of Havre de Grace Proclamation from Major Wayne Dougherty making them adopted citizens of HdG and declaring a week in September as TEAM MEXICO WEEK. He also thanked the Host Families for our dedication to not only our youth but to the youth of many nations. Will I do it again this year? You betcha!!!! All of their games are FREE! Opening Ceremony will be the 10th of August. Join us at the games! Join us as a Host Family! If you need to contact any of the Host Families, I'm sure we'd be available to answer any of your questions. Be part of the TEAM (Together Everyone Achieves More)! We're also looking for Ambassadors (Cheerleaders) to join the team. If you're taking Spanish in school, what a marvelous way to practice your Spanish with either Team Mexico or Team Dominican Republic. I'd like to also take this opportunity to thank the restaurants (MacGregors, Coakleys, Laurrapin Grille, all 3 La Toltecas, Golden Corral, Bob Evans) that have Sponsored meals for our Team and delicious deserts (Brusters Icecream). For 2012, Laurrapin Grille and Herbs on the Corner have already volunteered! You're greatly appreciated! Thank YOU! Alma Orive

Let me see....There are many reasons why there is not enough sign ups, but # 1 is that the communityRead More of Aberdeen is in the dark about most of the rec programs. Last year my sons team won the County Championship game for the 13-15 age group and when it was posted on Facebook people were shocked that they had not heard. The Aeiges paper never published it and ignored every phone call and e-mail posted. Being a supposedly Baseball City you would think that this sport would be important to us...or the Ripkins...or even the Ironbirds, but sad to say the kids and the parents are just sick of being treated like a second class citizen.
