Aldi To Open In Summer, Starts Hiring Friday

Aldi will host a hiring event Friday in preparation of its Aberdeen store launch this year.

Aldi won't open its Aberdeen location until this summer, but it will begin hiring staff this week. The new location of the chain store will hold a hiring event Friday. Company representatives will meet with prospective employees from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday at the Holiday Inn Express at 1007 Beards Hill Rd. Aldi is seeking cashiers, shift managers and manager trainees. Those positions would pay between $12 and $25 per hour, according to a news release from Aldi. Potential employees must be 18 or older, with a high school diploma or GED and available to work between 6 a.m. and 11 p.m. Retail experience is preferred, and staff members must be able to lift 45 pounds, according to the release. proposed Chick-Fil-A and Aldi locations are before Aberdeen's planning commission Wednesday night. The commission meets at 7 p.m. at City Hall. Find the full agenda on the city website. Site plans for both projects will be presented, and a subdivision plan for the Chick-Fil-A property will be unveiled. The proposed location of the Chick-Fil-A is a vacant lot at 1001 Beards Hill Road—at the intersection of Beards Hill Road and MD Route 22. It would neighbor the Olive Tree. I'm disappointed. The last thing we need at this location is another fast food place, especially one that is closed on Sundays (Chick-Fil-A). A 24-hour reastaurant would be ideal.   more ›
