The parade will temporarily close some Aberdeen streets on Saturday morning.
Drivers beware: the mascots from local businesses, Harford Community College and the Aberdeen IronBirds will be taking over three city streets Saturday. Don't worry, they'll have company. The costumed friends will be marching along with the Aberdeen High School band and local ballplayers as the Aberdeen Parks & Recreation Baseball program kicks off opening day with its annual parade. The parade begins at 10 a.m. Saturday at Bakerfield Elementary School. Participants will march to West Bel Air Avenue, turning right and marching to Paradise Road, where they'll head north toward Aberdeen High School. A lineup of Grammy Award-winning artists is scheduled to perform at the Aberdeen Proving Ground Post Theater Sunday. The 2013 United As One Gospel Concert Tour features James Fourtune & FIYA, Kierra "Kiki" Sheard, Vashawn Mitchell and Zacardi Cortez, according to a news release from Aberdeen Proving Ground. The show is hosted by Shuckey Duckey, the release said. Doors open at 4 p.m. for the 5 p.m. show. Tickets are $25, or $20 in advance with a military ID. The Ravens tight end will visit Aberdeen Thursday night for his radio show.
Less than a week after his clutch touchdown in New England, Dennis Pitta is touching down in Aberdeen. The Ravens tight end will be at Adams Jeep on Churchville Road from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday as part of his weekly radio show on WNST 1570 AM. The show can also be heard online at WNST.net. Pitta will be doing a limited signing, autographing 80 items after the show, according to a post on the Adams Jeep Facebook page. Autograph vouchers will be handed out at Adams Jeep beginning at 4 p.m., and Pitta will sign the 80 items upon completion of the show. A $5 donation for each autographed item will go to the Living Classrooms Foundation. Pitta is one of a handful of Baltimore Ravens making appearances in Harford County this week. Patch reported …
