A home located on East Bel Air Avenue had been vacant for a decade when it burned.
The Office of the Maryland State Fire Marshal is investigating what caused a vacant Aberdeen home to burn Friday night. The residence, located at 15 East Bel Air Avenue, had been vacant for a decade when fire caused approximately $50,000 in damages just before midnight on Friday. The fire, discovered by someone passing by at 11:58 p.m. on May 3, took approximately an hour and a half to control, according to the state fire marshal. The release noted that 60 firefighters—from Aberdeen, APG, Level and the Susquehanna Hose Company—fought the one-alarm blaze. Firefighters took just 15 minutes to control a fire in a multi-family building on S. Parke Street.
No one was injured in a fire that broke out early Sunday morning in Aberdeen. Firefighters from Aberdeen, Aberdeen Proving Ground and Susquehanna Hose Company fought the blaze that damaged a multi-family home in the 200 block of South Parke Street, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Fire and EMS Association. Firefighters had the fire under control within 15 minutes of arrival, according to Gardiner. Emergency responders cleared the scene around 1:30 a.m., Gardiner said. Three fire companies responded to a reported house fire on the 400 block of Roberts Way Sunday morning, according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association. At approximately 7:32 a.m., crews from Aberdeen Fire Department, Level Volunteer Fire Company and Aberdeen Proving Ground arrived at the home in Aberdeen Hills to find smoke inside, Gardiner said. The fire was in a crawl space under the chimney, which crews opened so they could put out the blaze, according to Gardiner. No injuries were reported in the incident, Gardiner said.

The Maryland State Fire Marshal's office is investigating incidents that led to a car blaze and an explosion in a mailbox Sunday evening outside of Aberdeen. The incidents took place in a 90-minute span in the Perryman community. Around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday, the Aberdeen Fire Department and Harford County Sheriff's Office responded to the 1400 block of Perryman Drive for a vehicle fire. A Yukon Denali XL, from an unknown year, was found "totally consumed by fire in a field" in the rear of an industrial park, Deputy Chief Mark A. Bilger announced via email. The fire marshal said the blaze was caused by an incendiary device in the interior of the vehicle, and was controlled in 10 minutes. It resulted in a loss estimated at $13,000, according …

A chemical odor Sunday afternoon evacuated the Courtyard By Marriott hotel at the Ripken Baseball complex in Aberdeen. According to the Facebook page for the Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS Association, the building was being evcuated by Aberdeen Volunteer Fire Department personnel. There is one patient being treated and a hazardous materials team is headed to the scene, the association said. The post indicated the odor originalted in the pool area of the hotel building. A home in the 1100 block of Main Street in Darlington sustained fire damage Tuesday.
UPDATED (1:55 p.m.)—A fire damaged the attic of a home in Darlington Tuesday morning. As crews arrived, fire was showing in the second floor and attic of a home in the 1100 block of Main Street in Darlington, said Rich Gardiner, spokesman for the Harford County Fire & EMS Association. No injuries were reported, Gardiner said. Volunteer fire crews from Darlington, Level, Aberdeen, Bel Air, Whiteford and the Susquehanna Hose Company responded to the scene—located near the intersection of MD Route 161 and Castleton Road—just before noon Tuesday. Thirty firefighters needed 15 minutes to control a fire caused by a gas grill propane tank leak at a single-family home in the 1100 block of Montreal Drive Tuesday night. All five residents escaped after the owner discovered the fire originating on a deck in the back of the home, according to Maryland State Fire Marshal Oliver Alkire. After responding to a fire that damaged two hotel rooms, a fire safety inspector condemned the Days Inn for multiple fire violations.
Harford County and Aberdeen Code Enforcement officials condemned the Days Inn, located on the 700 block of West Bel Air Avenue on Wednesday, for multiple violations. The hotel was condemned hours after Aberdeen firefighters extinguished a fire that damaged two rooms at the Days Inn at 9:37 a.m. Wednesday. Fire Safety Inspector William Jiles discovered that more than 30 rooms did not have properly working smoke alarms, and fire extinguishers inside the hotel were not tagged and charged. Aberdeen firefighters extinguished a fire that damaged two bedrooms at the Days Inn, located on the 700 block of West Bel Air Avenue, at approximately 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday. The fire started in a corner bedroom, where one occupant had recently check out, on the ground floor. A lamp short circuited, creating a spark. The flame traveled through an electrical outlet. It reached an adjacent bedroom and lit a mattress on fire, said Deputy Fire Marshal Oliver J. Alkire. There was an occupant paying for the hotel room where the mattress caught on fire, but was not present when the fire occurred. No one was injured during the incident, and all other occupants are able to stay in their hotel room as of Wednesday morning.
