The team beat Harford Tech Wednesday, 11-8
With an 11-8 win against Harford Tech Wednesday, Aberdeen High's varsity boys lacrosse team secured their ninth win, a school record. "I am immensely proud of the boys' effort," coach Hinson White said in an email. "All but a handful of them never picked up a lacrosse stick until they got to high school. They have worked tirelessly to close the gap." Aberdeen jumped to an early 2-0 lead, but Harford Tech evened the score and led at the half, 6-4. They scored one more goal before Aberdeen went on a 7-goal streak, White said in the email. Aberdeen High's boys varsity lacrosse team took its matchup at Joppatowne on Wednesday by a score of 10-4. Freshman goalie Luke Whittie notched 14 saves and sophomore senior attack Justin Howard led scoring with four goals. The Eagles secured a convincing win with a big performance from senior attacker Blaiser Curtis.
Aberdeen High School was never in danger of falling behind against Bohemia Manor. The Aberdeen Eagles notched a convincing 11-3 win over the Eagles... of Chesapeake, MD. Senior attacker Blaise Curtis scored a team-leading six unassisted goals Wednesday en route to victory. Blaise was joined by fellow goal-scorers senior Justin Howard and juniors Kyle Peters and Eric Whittie. The breakdown: The boys are back in action on Friday at 3:30 p.m. at Rising Sun High School. Aberdeen and River Hill met for the second straight year at UMBC's RAC Arena.
The Eagles girls are soaring once more. Aberdeen defeated River Hill, 51-47, to win the MPSSAA Class 3A state basketball championship Saturday night at UMBC's RAC Arena. Kierra Palmer led the Eagles with 22 points in a comeback victory. River Hill led, 28-18, at the half, but Aberdeen used a strong start to the fourth quarter to repeat last year's victory over the Hawks. It's the second state championship in the program's history in the Eagles third consecutive trip to the finals. Aberdeen accomplished the repeat playing more than half its season without its top player—6-foot-3 senior post player Bri Jones, who will play at the University of Maryland after recovering from surgery to repair a torn knee ligament. The Aberdeen girls basketball team will try to repeat as MPSSAA state champions when they face River Hill at 8 p.m. on Saturday at UMBC's RAC Arena.
Aberdeen will look to repeat when it plays River Hill in the Class 3A state championship Saturday. The Eagles (22-1) advanced with a 71-50 semifinal win against Damascus on Friday to set up a rematch with the Hawks for the state crown. Aberdeen defeated River Hill, 62-48, to win the title last March. Aberdeen (22-1) and River Hill (23-3) meet at 8 p.m. Saturday at UMBC's RAC Arena. It'll be a matchup of Aberdeen's stellar offense against River Hill's tight defense. Aberdeen has won its four playoff games by an average of 73-44. The Aberdeen girls basketball team advanced to the MPSSAA's final four on Friday.
Aberdeen won its third straight girls basketball region championship Friday, moving one step closer to defending its state title. The Eagles (22-1) defeated City, 73-45, to win the MPSSAA Class 3A North region crown and advance to the March 7 state semifinal. Aberdeen will face Damascus (21-2)—which defeated South Hagerstown, 60-42 in Friday's Class 3A West region final at 7 p.m. on March 7 at UMBC's RAC Arena. River Hill (21-1), which Aberdeen defeated for last year's state title, advanced Friday and plays Friendly (19-2) in the other Class 3A semifinal.
