The Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference released updated standings Tuesday morning. The Aberdeen boys lacrosse team remained in the hunt for the Susquehanna Division title as of Tuesday morning. The standings are shown, in full, in the slideshow with this post. The standings are posted by division, in alphabetical order, as provided by the conference. Did you know? Aberdeen and River Hill met for the second straight year at UMBC's RAC Arena.
The Eagles girls are soaring once more. Aberdeen defeated River Hill, 51-47, to win the MPSSAA Class 3A state basketball championship Saturday night at UMBC's RAC Arena. Kierra Palmer led the Eagles with 22 points in a comeback victory. River Hill led, 28-18, at the half, but Aberdeen used a strong start to the fourth quarter to repeat last year's victory over the Hawks. It's the second state championship in the program's history in the Eagles third consecutive trip to the finals. Aberdeen accomplished the repeat playing more than half its season without its top player—6-foot-3 senior post player Bri Jones, who will play at the University of Maryland after recovering from surgery to repair a torn knee ligament. The Aberdeen girls basketball team will try to repeat as MPSSAA state champions when they face River Hill at 8 p.m. on Saturday at UMBC's RAC Arena.
Aberdeen will look to repeat when it plays River Hill in the Class 3A state championship Saturday. The Eagles (22-1) advanced with a 71-50 semifinal win against Damascus on Friday to set up a rematch with the Hawks for the state crown. Aberdeen defeated River Hill, 62-48, to win the title last March. Aberdeen (22-1) and River Hill (23-3) meet at 8 p.m. Saturday at UMBC's RAC Arena. It'll be a matchup of Aberdeen's stellar offense against River Hill's tight defense. Aberdeen has won its four playoff games by an average of 73-44. The Aberdeen girls basketball team advanced to the MPSSAA's final four on Friday.
Aberdeen won its third straight girls basketball region championship Friday, moving one step closer to defending its state title. The Eagles (22-1) defeated City, 73-45, to win the MPSSAA Class 3A North region crown and advance to the March 7 state semifinal. Aberdeen will face Damascus (21-2)—which defeated South Hagerstown, 60-42 in Friday's Class 3A West region final at 7 p.m. on March 7 at UMBC's RAC Arena. Aberdeen goes for its third straight girls basketball region title Friday night. The Eagles host City College at 6 p.m. at Aberdeen High School. Top seed Aberdeen (21-1) is seeking its third straight trip to the state title game after winning the school's first championship last March. No. 2 seed City (21-2) used a nine-point win against Milford Mill to reach the region final. The Eagles defeated Edgewood for the Uppper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference championship Wednesday night in Bel Air. It was the team's second straight title.
The Aberdeen girls basketball team cruised past Edgewood, 62-23, to earn the Upper Chesapeake Bay Athletic Conference championship Wednesday night in Bel Air. It was the second straight conference title for the Eagles, who have won the UCBAC's Chesapeake Division in both of those seasons. It's the third title overall for Aberdeen, which also won the championship in 2004. Freshman Stephanie Jones led the Eagles in Wednesday's game with 23 points, while Jimmia McCluskey added 14, according to The Aegis. Also Wednesday, Edgewood defeated Joppatowne, 59-55, for the boys conference title. The girls basketball team for Aberdeen is a top seed in the MPSSAA tournament, which begins next week. The Aberdeen girls basketball team is playing for the conference championship Wednesday. The Eagles and Edgewood will square off at 7 p.m. Wednesday in the title matchup at C. Milton Wright. Edgewood (16-6 overall) won the Susquehanna Division, going 14-0 in division play.
