Riverside House Fire Causes 15K Damage

A house fire in Riverside drew firefighters from throughout the county Friday afternoon.

A fire broke out in a Riverside townhome Friday afternoon, causing thousands in damage. Around 2:49 p.m. the homeowner noticed a fire inside the home in the 4300 block of Foxglove Court, according to a release from the Maryland State Fire Marshal. Thirty firefighters from Joppa, Abingdon, Aberdeen and Bel Air Volunteer Fire Companies responded and controlled the blaze within 10 minutes, the release states. The fire caused about $10,000 to the building and about $5,000 to what was inside it, according to deputy fire marshals. Investigators believe the fire started accidentally in the home's master bedroom.

Belcamp Gazebo Torched Early Sunday Morning

The Maryland State Fire Marshal said arson was to blame.

A series of combustable materials is to blame for a fire that burned a gazebo early Sunday morning in Belcamp. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said arson was to blame for the fire, which originated on the flooring of the gazebo and caused approximately $1,000 in damage to the wood-framed structure. The incident occured in the 1400 block of Dalmation Place in Belcamp, the fire marshal said. The structure is owned by Arborview Apartment Homes. The fire marshal's report indicated the fire started "due to common combustibles being ignited on the wooden floor of the gazebo." Responding at 4:15 a.m. Sunday, the Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company had the blaze under control in 20 minutes, according to the Maryland State Fire Marshal's …
