The GroundFloor at Harford will host its ribbon-cutting next week.
A technology entrepreneur workspace will open next week in Havre de Grace. The GroundFloor at Harford will host a ribbon-cutting at 11 a.m., May 15, at Swan Creek Village Center. The annual promotion starts June 3.
Harford County's restaurant week is coming back for a fourth annual helping. In an announcement last week, county officials said they're looking for restaurants interested in participating in the June 3 to 15 promotion. Owners and managers of interested restaurants are asked to call county tourism and marketing manager Wini Roche at 410-638-3059 or email wjroche@harfordcountymd.gov for more information. All restaurants must be a county tourism partner and provide a $25 gift card to be used as a contest prize. Harford County Executive David Craig thanks the county council for $100K grant to Smith's Detection.
Harford County Executive David Craig Tuesday thanked the County Council for approving a $100,000 training grant for Smith's Detection, a tech firm with offices in Edgewood. Craig said the grant will cover training for the company, which plans to expand its workforce in Edgewood by 100 employees by the end of next year. "The company, which currently has 222 employees at their Edgewood facility, will have 325 employees by the end of 2013, at an average salary of $72,000 as a result of these funds, which would provide an additional $100,000 to $130,000 in income tax revenue to the county annually," Craig said in the statement released through the county government. Harford County Restaurant Week boosted sales at local businesses some 10 to 15 percent, the county said in a news release Tuesday. The third annual Restaurant Week, held last month at businesses throughout the county, increased business at restaurants at a 10 to 15 percent clip for the second straight year. Harford's Winifred "Wini" Roche will serve on the Maryland Tourism Development Board.
Harford County Tourism Manager Wini Roche has been appointed to the Maryland Tourism Development Board. According to a statement from Harford County Government, Roche was one of four appointments by Gov. Martin O'Malley Monday. "I’m honored to serve and promote our great state on the Maryland Tourism Development Board," Roche said in a statement. "With so many wonderful experiences to offer, tourism is truly a bright spot in Maryland’s economy." Roche has 18 years of experience in local tourism, according to the statement. She will serve a three-year term, representing the Maryland Destination Marketing Organizations.
