A fire broke out late Thursday morning inside an Aberdeen apartment.
UPDATE: (2:20 p.m.)—A fire that started inside an Aberdeen apartment building Thursday injured a mother and her two children, fire officials say. Around 10:16 a.m., fire crews were called to the building in the 200 block of S. Law Street in Aberdeen, according to a post on the official Harford County Fire and EMS Facebook page. Firefighters arrived at the scene to find heavy smoke coming from the building, the post states. The fire was contained shortly after 10:34 a.m., according to Rich Gardiner, spokesman for Harford County Volunteer Fire and EMS Association. The fatal crash happened late Monday night in Aberdeen.
UPDATED (11:50 a.m.)—A Belcamp teen died early Tuesday morning after a crash in Aberdeen late Monday night. According to a release from the Harford County Sheriff's Office, Austin D. Remines, 17, of the 1200 block of Person Place in Belcamp, was pronounced deceased at 2:18 a.m. Tuesday at Harford Memorial Hospital. Around 11:21 p.m., police said, Remines was driving a 2008 Suzuki Forenza when he swerved away from the center line, losing control of his vehicle and crossing into the lane of an oncoming vehicle. The other car, a 2008 Toyota Yaris, was driven by a 27-year-old man from Aberdeen, police said. He was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured in the crash, according to the release. A fire burned in the garage of a home on the outskirts of Aberdeen Thursday evening, prompting a response from four local fire companies. The blaze took place before 10 p.m. in the 3400 block of Churchville Road and was controlled by 10 p.m. by crews from Level, Aberdeen, Aberdeen Proving Ground and the Susquehanna Hose Company, according to Rich Gardiner of the Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS Association. A series of combustable materials is to blame for a fire that burned a gazebo early Sunday morning in Belcamp. The Maryland State Fire Marshal's Office said arson was to blame for the fire, which originated on the flooring of the gazebo and caused approximately $1,000 in damage to the wood-framed structure. The incident occured in the 1400 block of Dalmation Place in Belcamp, the fire marshal said. The structure is owned by Arborview Apartment Homes. The fire marshal's report indicated the fire started "due to common combustibles being ignited on the wooden floor of the gazebo." One patient was rescued from a fire in Edgewood early Thursday. The patient was initially reported trapped and was rescued from the basement of a residence in the 200 block of Kennard Avenue, according to a Facebook post from the spokespersons for the Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS Association. The condition of the patient was not immediately known, though a Facebook post from the association indicated the individual was being treated by personnel at the scene. Abingdon, Joppa, APG and Bel Air fire companies responded to the blaze, which was declared under control around 7 a.m. The initial call occured around 5:30 a.m. The cause and extent of the fire was not immediately known. Crews from seven local fire companies brought a blaze under control within 15 minutes Monday morning in Edgewood. The fire took place at a two-story, split level home in the 800 block of Fisherman Lane, according to a post from Harford County Fire & EMS Association spokesman Rich Gardiner on the organization's Facebook page. Gardiner noted that crews from Joppa, Abingdon, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Bel Air, White Marsh, Fallston and Kingsville responded to the fire around 8 a.m. There were no injuries reported, Gardiner wrote. The hotel, located on Long Drive in Aberdeen, was cleared for a chemical odor.
A chemical odor Sunday afternoon evacuated the Courtyard By Marriott hotel at the Ripken Baseball complex in Aberdeen. According to the Facebook page for the Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS Association, the building was being evcuated by Aberdeen Volunteer Fire Department personnel. There is one patient being treated and a hazardous materials team is headed to the scene, the association said. The post indicated the odor originalted in the pool area of the hotel building.
