The U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center (CERDEC), located at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Md., applies research and engineering to develop Soldier capabilities that establish, sustain and secure communications, enable situational awareness and understanding, and protect Soldiers from surprise attack.

CERDEC works closely with the Department of Defense, national research organizations and a diverse network of industry, small business and academia partners, including local companies and universities, to adopt, adapt and mature relevant scientific breakthroughs in the areas of Command and Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance, and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) technologies. CERDEC is one of seven subordinate organizations of the Research, Development and Engineering Command (RDECOM), also headquartered at APG.

In order to secure the next generation of the best and brightest innovative thinkers, CERDEC plays an active role in promoting education in science, technology, engineering and mathematics throughout northeastern Maryland. Programs are available for students kindergarten through college that focus on encouraging the most critical resource for our nation's future -- our students.
