Exactly right. Our 'system of justice', what some people call a 'system of just-us' (pointing out the numerous inequities of our system) is not fool-proof in the slightest.

We have documented cases of people being put on death row or even being executed for crimes that they did not commit. When that is the case, it's well past time to get rid of the death penalty and realize that until we have telepaths who can confirm that someone is guilty, the death penalty is too much of an irrevocable punishment to use.

Truthful, I had to go "LOL WUT!?" at your statement. Excuse me, but blacks are more likely to get the death penalty than whites are and especially more likely to get the death penalty when they kill a white person than a white person killing another white person is.

They have been pointing that out for YEARS and numerous studies done by non-politically-biased organizations have proven that beyond any doubt.

To be blunt, race is still a big factor in whether someone gets the death penalty or not.

No Dropouts, the fact is that for 90%+ of the jobs out there today, you don't need a college degree or even a high school diploma. What you do need? TRAINING! That is the biggest problem today, lack of training and experience for workers.

Lone, judging by the fact that you misspelled ASSISTANCE, I'm not taking you to seriously on this issue.
Secondly, public assistance should NEVER be based on whether you have finished high school or any other thing than personal need.
We already have it where you have to have a job to get welfare and other social assistance (save if you are mentally or physically deficient, or even the state job service cannot find you a job). That is all that we need in terms of limiting the ability of people to get public assistance.

Bob, one person's left wing nut case is another person's sane moderate. Let's be real here: both political parties today are RIGHT of center, the Democrats just not as much as the Republicans and nowhere near as much as the Tea Party.

A bloodthirster bunch of people you will never find, as the saying goes. We don't need the death penalty anymore. In fact, we actually never needed the death penalty and it's been counterproductive, actually encouraging criminals to off witnesses and victims .

That's coming straight from the FBI and numerous state/local police studies done over the years, by the way.

Once a person is locked up in a prison or jail and are no longer a danger except to those who actively accept that danger (usually not even them), the death penalty becomes obviously unnecessary and a case of bloodthirst triumphing over morality.

The lamentation is "Do not kill!" Not "Do not kill except when society agrees that someone should die!"

Even as an Atheist, I have to say that the religious books have the right idea on that subject.

It seems to me that you have no idea how the school system actually works today. Yes, teachers do have to 'tread lightly' as do administration. However, that is because in the past, admins and teachers have abused their authority (understatement of the year there) and now parents like myself and my relatives are watching them like a hawk for those abuses.

True, but even as an Atheist I say that it is wrong to kill someone unless you have to at that very moment to protect yourself or others.

Cwhat, you do not have the right to deem that someone has 'outlived their usefulness on this planet'. I can understand people being killed by the police in order to protect people who are in danger at that very moment, not after someone is in custody and only a danger to those who KNOW the risks of being around those people and by taking money for that, accept the risks.

With all due respect, I had a friend of mine murdered and that did not change my stance on the death penalty one whit. It is simply WRONG and state-sanctioned MURDER that is not necessary in the real world.

No matter if it is a child that is killed, no matter if it was my lover that was killed, no matter if it was my child that was killed.

The death penalty is impossible to reverse should we execute the wrong person, which there is ample damned evidence that we have done exactly that on numerou occasions.

No, until we have telepaths who are able to search through a person's mind or some machine that can do that? The death penalty should be removed and life in prison put in it's place.
