Sephora Signs Aberdeen Warehouse Deal

The beauty retailer plans to set up shop on Chelsea Road.

Major beauty retailer Sephora signed a lease for a 656,000-square-foot building being constructed by Ryan Commercial in Aberdeen and will vacate two smaller warehouses in Belcamp in the next year, according to the Baltimore Business Journal.

The company's agent told the Baltimore Business Journal the new building at 531 Chelsea Road will enable Sephora to accommodate a boom in e-commerce.

Through its Harford County distribution hub, Sephora fills orders for stores in the eastern part of the United States and handles online purchases for all of North America, according to the Harford County Office of Economic Development.

Sephora has more than 300 stores in North America, and 1,000 others across the world.

It also has Sephora stores set up within JC Penney locations, including the one in the Boulevard at Box Hill in Abingdon.

The beauty giant brings more than just lipsticks and perfume to Harford County; it also delivers jobs.

Sephora is among the top 50 largest employers in Harford County, the Maryland Department of Labor, Licensing and Regulation reported.

According to the state, Sephora provides Harford County with 493 jobs.

The Baltimore Business Journal said an additional 200 positions will be created with the new warehouse space, which is slated for completion by June.

Sephora, a French company with U.S. headquarters in San Francisco, first selected Harford County as its distribution center in 1998 for many reasons, including its workforce and location near highways, airports and the port, according to MDBiz News.
