Laptop Returned to Disabled Aberdeen Student after Library Theft

The computer belonged to a Towson University student who has cerebral palsy and is nearly blind.

The laptop that was snatched from a special needs college student at the Aberdeen library has reportedly been recovered.

The 2013 MacBook Pro was inside a black carrying case when it was stolen Nov. 16 from a college student with cerebral palsy and partial blindness at the Aberdeen library, according to the Aberdeen Police Department.

Earlier this week, Aberdeen police released pictures of the suspect in hopes of identifying the man who took the computer, which was valued at $4,500.

Before making off with the laptop, the man pictured in surveillance footage had been following the student around the library, according to The RecordThe student was reportedly a junior at Towson University studying music and his course materials and compositions were on the computer.

Coincidentally, this week the student's mother noticed a man in the library was wearing the same hat and clothing as the suspect, so she took down his tag number and passed it on to Aberdeen police, ABC 2 News reported.

As the result of a citizen tip, police told ABC 2 News Thursday that charges were pending against a person of interest and the laptop had been returned.
