Route 7 Reopens after Gas Leak

A gas leak was reported in Aberdeen Monday afternoon.

Part of a major road in Aberdeen was shut down Monday afternoon for more than three hours after a natural gas leak, according to officials.

All lanes of MD Route 7/Old Philadelphia Road were shut down between Stepney Road South and Holly Oak Circle at noon Monday, according to the Maryland Department of Transportation.

BGE was working to determine the source of the gas leak at approximately 1:30 p.m., according to Jennifer Chenworth Price of the Harford County Volunteer Fire & EMS Association.

As of 3:30 p.m., the road had reopened.
