Pedestrian Killed by Amtrak Train Near Aberdeen

The crash occurred around 4:30 p.m. Saturday near the Aberdeen Wawa.

A person was killed after being hit by an Amtrak train near Aberdeen Saturday afternoon, according to The Baltimore Sun.

The collision occurred near the Aberdeen Wawa, according to Harford County Fire & EMS spokesman Rich Gardiner. The Wawa is in the 200 block of North Philadelphia Boulevard, east of the MD Route 22 overpass.

The victim, who has not been identified, was trespassing on the tracks at 4:34 p.m. when the regional train, which was headed for Boston, hit the person, The Baltimore Sun reported.

Fire officials were clearing the scene around 5:06 p.m, Gardiner said, and local law enforcement and Amtrak police were working on the investigation.

Trains headed north and southbound were stopped during the investigation, according to WTOP.

Three hundred passengers were on the train, which was delayed two hours, NBC News reported.

All trains between Washington, D.C., and points north were moving by 10 p.m., with delays of one to two hours, according to The Washington Post.
