Frightful Masterpiece Underway on Carsins Run Road

Construction begins on Legends of the Fog for the 2014 season.

Did you go to Legends of the Fog this year?

The haunted attraction closed Nov. 2, after the Halloween rush, but work on the Carsins Run Road set continues year-round, according to Producer Patrick Barberry.

"Legends of the Fog is meticulously planned beginning in September of the previous year, and begins construction in November after the current season," Barberry told Patch.

This week, a video was released on YouTube showing the painting of a mural outside the Sinister Circus, one piece of the Legends of the Fog set.

Barberry said his parents own the business and handle scenic and prop design 12 months out of the year, while he and his wife organize the scene direction and marketing elements. Volunteers "seeking thrills over their nights and weekends" also contribute, he added.

"This unique group of retired business executives, safety engineers, security managers, professional make-up artists, costume designers, lighting and sound specialists, network analysts, mural artists and several community leaders all bring a...skill-set that adds a unique layer of detail to the attraction just like ingredients in a well prepared meal," Barberry said.

The result is a one-of-a-kind haunt right here in Aberdeen.

"Nearly every building, scene, costume and prop is created in Legends of the Fog's workshops and can only be found at the attraction," Barberry said, noting that plans are already underway for the 2014 season.

Legends of the Fog is located at 500 Carsins Run Rd. Check the calendar for hours and ticket prices. Watch the time-lapse video showing Legends of the Fog's Sinister Circus.
