2 Aberdeen Businesses Win Harford Awards

STG and Flowers by Lucy were honored by the Harford County Chamber of Commerce.

Two businesses in Aberdeen were recognized for their contributions to Harford County Wednesday during a Harford County Chamber of Commerce ceremony at the newly opened Waters Edge event center in Belcamp, according to The Daily Record.

STG Inc. took home the Harford Award in the research and development/technology category, while Flowers by Lucy won the award for Main Street, The Daily Record reported.

The Harford Award goes to businesses that exemplify a commitment to Harford County, according to the chamber.

STG is a defense contractor affiliated with Aberdeen Proving Ground, located on the 1100 block of South Philadelphia Blvd.

"STG is honored," Tamera Rush of STG told Patch. "We truly appreciate the Harford County Chamber and the Harford County Office of Economic Development for the time and effort put into such a great event and deliberation throughout the awards process."

Aberdeen was also represented in the winner's circle by Flowers by Lucy, which is a family-owned flower shop at 20 W. Bel Air Ave.

Award winners in other categories included Arrow Child & Family Ministries (nonprofit), The Kelly Group (service), Looney's Pub (retail) and Flavor Cupcakery (entrepreneur). More than 300 people purchased tickets for the event, the chamber reported on its Facebook page.
