APG Brush Fires Under Control

Two brush fires burned on Aberdeen Proving Ground Tuesday.

Firefighters on have under control two brush fires that have been burning and putting off plumes of smoke Tuesday.

The smoke has been visible to some areas of southern Harford County, but the fires do not pose a risk to residents. The fires are confined to the Aberdeen area of APG, according to Terri Kaltenbacher, public affairs specialist for the U.S. Army Garrison, .

"They've been burning for a couple hours now," Kaltenbacher told shortly after 3 p.m. Tuesday. "Both of them are totally contained and do not pose any threat to public health or safety."

spokesman Rich Gardiner said the Abingdon Volunteer Fire Company had been dispatched for a report of smoke in the area of MD Route 24 and Singer Road.
